I took a break from photography for a while do to lake of inspiration and a broken camera. Well got my camera fixed and have been out a couple of time to take some shots. Still trying to find my inspiration but will try and find in by going out and taking photos. I’m hoping this will reignite my interest for photography.
Photography break
July 28, 2010It’s been a while since I’ve been out to take photos. I really should get back at it. How do you get your inspiration back after a long while? I have a serious lack of inspiration. I hope it comes back soon.
Photography Web site
February 15, 2010I thought about it for a while and decided to really push forward with my photography. I created a web site to get things going. http://www.thomascwilliamson.me/Thomas_Williamson/Welcome.html I’m hoping this will help start things in the right direction. I think the next step after this is to get some business cards done up. All the while I’m still working on my photography from a hobbyist point of view and getting some practice in. Wish me luck, and if you know anyone who’s looking for a photographer point them in my direction.
Taking the next Step
January 24, 2010I have decided to start doing weddings and other functions to make some extra money. I haven’t yet done one but would am going to start. I still have some things to figure out, like advertising and pricing structure. But I think this is the next step in my photography. I also think this will be a good gauge as to how good a photographer I am. I just wish I was better at the business end of it. I don’t know really how to get started. I’m hoping posting here on my blog and letting people know I talk to will generate some word of mouth. It will also give me some incite as to what people think and weather it is doable. I know this will take a lot of work and some time to get things rolling. But with some luck and time hopefully I’ll be able to start this as a career. If not I’ll still enjoy photography as a hobby.
Unemployment
January 9, 2010I’ve been among the many who have become unemployed. No sir don’t like it, don’t like it one bit. The only upside to it is the fact that it’s given me time to do more photography, when I’m not looking for work that is. Looking for work can be a full time job. I’ve also noticed that when there is this many people who are unemployed that it makes things a lot harder to find a job. Everyone is competing for the same jobs. And some jobs that I would say I’m perfect for are going to people that normally wouldn’t take such a job. How do you compete with people who have twice the education and experience who are asking for the same amount of money or less? I’ve been really flexible on what I’ve been willing to except for pay. I would like to stay in the IT field. But I don’t know if I can, it’s over saturated or close to it. So it leaves me with two options, either change to a different field or hang in there and pray something opens up. It’s been 4 months and I’ve applied for several positions. Haven’t heard back from hardly any or them. And the ones who have contacted me have done so with not so good news. So I shall keep sending out resumes and networking. With a little luck, ok maybe a lot of luck something will come my way. Anyone with any ideas I’m open for suggestions. And to all of those people in the same boat as I am, I wish you all good luck.
Canon Camera
July 1, 2009I got my first DSLR on Monday, it’s a Canon Rebel. I went and took some photos with it and posted them on my flickr page. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tcw115 Stop by and give a look and let me know what you think…
First A+ Certification Test
July 1, 2009My fist A+ cerfitcation test is done and I passed. I passed the Essentials test on Monday. I am scheduled for the Techniction test on the 11th. I’m half way there. Looking foward to getting the certification under my belt. I’ve been studying and making sure I know my stuff backward and fowards. I wasn’t sure I was going to pass. But I did quite a bit better than I though I would do. Well I hope I do as well with the next test…
Studying for A+ Cert
May 2, 2009I’m studying for the CompTIA A+ Certification. I hope to go take it as soon as I’m ready. It’s a thorough set of tests consisting of 2 of 4 tests. The Essentials Test 220-601, IT Technician 220-602, Remote Support Technician 220-603, and Depot Technician 220-604. The Essentials is mandatory so you need to take that one and one other to become A+ Certified. http://certification.comptia.org/a/default.aspx this is the web site for CompTIA if you want more information on these tests. Wish me luck….

Spring is here
April 20, 2009Spring is here and I for one am glad. I enjoy winter for about the first couple of weeks then wish for it’s quick end. I did get some winter photos but for the most part didn’t do much photography over the winter. I did get some beach shots a couple of weeks back that turned out well. I’m looking forward to May when things really start to bloom. The birds have started coming back so I might try and get some bird photos. Well see you all out and about.

Apple Computer middle of 3 week.
March 6, 2009I’ve now had my Apple computer about 3 or so weeks. I switched out the Mighty mouse for my old Trackball that I had on my PC. I like the Mighty Mouse it’s one of the better ones I’ve used. But I’m a trackball person, I find them easier to use and more accurate. I’m still tailoring the Apple to what I’ll use it for. It’s become my main computer instead of the PC.
I still use my PC but not as much any more. I’ve been able to find replacements or apple versions for most things. After using the Mac for as long as I have still no crashes or blue screens of death, a good thing in my book. I’ve noticed that the I-Mac does run a bit warm. Not sure how it cools itself but I hope it doesn’t become an issue under heavy loads. Haven’t really gotten any software for it yet. Most of the software I’m looking for I’ll need to save up for. I do have a copy of MS Office coming for the Mac and should be here soon. Still looking for a good budgeting program to replace MS Money, I think I’ll try I-Bank. I was able to get Picasa for the Mac, The Gimp and a few other free software for photo editing. It’ll do the trick for now until I can either save up for Photo shop or Aperture 2. But the Gimp combined with I-photo will do for now.
That is where I am so far, I’m looking foward to getting more familiar with the I-Mac. I really want to us it for my photography and photo editing. When I can get that into full swing I think I’ll really be able to put the I-Mac threw it’s paces. As for the everyday stuff I used the PC for, I find I can do it all on an Mac Just as well. Maybe not the same way but close enough to where I’m not gonna hold it against The Mac. I’m Happy so far with the switch, and how to be able to continue to say that as time goes by.
